Many "End of the World" scenarios...
...have been suggested. Some that will almost certainly end humanity are certain to occur, but on a very long timescale. Others are likely to happen on a shorter timescale, but will probably not completely destroy civilization. Still others may even put an end to the planet earth as we know it.
The end of civilization or the end of the world are phrases used in reference to human extinction scenarios , doomsday events, and related hazards which occur on a global scale. These are risks that would imperil humankind as a whole and/or have major adverse consequences for the course of human civilization. Though there have been countless "End of the World" prophecies in human history...only those that actually site the year 2012 as the the last year on Earth are included. Many Prophets have made predictions citing that we will experience unprecedented, cataclysmic disasters ranging from massive earthquakes and tsunamis, plagues, famine to nuclear reactor meltdowns on the end of life or judgement day. Yet ony a few...counting 7, have predicted the date the world ends as being on or near December 21, 2012.
